A woman was found dead inside the trunk of a car after missing breakfast plans with a friend. Her estranged husband allegedly told his mother they had fought and that she was dead before police arrived.
On August 12, 2026, at around 10:30 a.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 4700 block of Charles Place in Plano, Texas, to conduct a welfare check after a woman failed to meet a friend for breakfast and could not be reached. During the investigation, officers found her body inside the trunk of a white Hyundai parked in the apartment’s garage. She had significant injuries to her face and head.
The victim was identified as Eliana Bigoni.
Earlier that morning, Eliana had plans to meet a friend for breakfast at approximately 8:30 a.m.
After Eliana failed to show up and could not be contacted, the friend requested a welfare check and told authorities that Eliana and her estranged husband, 37-year-old Jake Bigoni, were separated and going through a divorce.
Eliana was also expected to pick up the couple’s 2- and 5-year-old children that morning.
Investigators were advised of potential safety concerns involving Jake due to reported previous violent behavior.
Approximately 30 minutes before officers arrived at the apartment, Jake’s mother contacted police and reported receiving a phone call from her son.
According to the arrest affidavit, Jake allegedly told his mother that Eliana was dead and that the two had gotten into a fight.
Upon arrival at the apartment, Jake allegedly answered the door with a large stain on his shirt.
He reportedly told officers the stain came from cleaning his home and claimed Eliana had been at the apartment earlier but was no longer there.
Officers detained Jake and later determined the stain on his shirt was blood.
During a search of the garage, investigators opened the trunk of a white Hyundai and discovered Eliana’s body inside. Authorities said she had significant damage to her face and head.
The couple’s two young children were also inside the apartment at the time and were unharmed.
Police said they could not speculate about what the children may have seen, but confirmed both children were present during the incident. They were removed from the apartment as investigators continued processing the scene.
Jake was initially arrested on a felony charge of abuse of a corpse.
On August 13, 2026, authorities obtained a murder warrant and subsequently booked him into the Collin County Jail on the additional charge.
Jake is being held without bond.
The Collin County Medical Examiner had not publicly released Eliana’s official cause of death at the time of the most recent reports.
