A 34-year-old woman was chased, beaten, stabbed and run over after three people allegedly believed she was breaking into a vehicle. More than two years later, two of those accused in her killing were convicted of second-degree murder.

On March 15, 2024, officers responded to an apartment complex near Broadway Boulevard and Indian School Road in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a woman was attacked. Upon arrival, authorities found the woman critically injured. She died from her injuries.

The victim was identified as 34-year-old Sarah Dimas.

Earlier that morning, then-23-year-old Joshua Dominguez and then-21-year-old Destiny Marquez were inside their apartment when they heard a car alarm.

Marquez reportedly looked outside and saw Dimas near Dominguez’s vehicle. She believed Dimas was removing items from the car.

Marquez, Dominguez, and Marquez’s father, David Haro, confronted Dimas.

Dimas reportedly denied stealing anything from the vehicle.

The confrontation then escalated.

Surveillance video reportedly showed three people chasing Dimas before beating, stomping, and stabbing her.

Investigators said the attack lasted nearly 70 seconds.

Dimas was then struck at least twice by a Honda CR-V.

After the attack, Dominguez and Marquez reportedly drove away.

Investigators later located the Honda and found fresh blood on the driver’s side bumper.

Dominguez and Marquez were also reportedly seen moving items from that vehicle into another vehicle before they were detained.

On March 15, 2024, Dominguez and Marquez were arrested in connection with Dimas’ death.

Court records indicate the two were engaged at the time.

During a search of an apartment connected to one of the suspects, detectives found three knives inside a dishwasher, a box cutter with dried blood, blood droplets throughout the apartment, and shoes that appeared to have been recently cleaned and were still wet.

Investigators said the dishwasher containing the knives appeared to have been recently run.

On April 1, 2024, Haro was arrested after homicide detectives located him at an Albuquerque apartment complex.

In November 2024, Marquez pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

As part of her plea agreement, Marquez agreed to serve 16 years in prison.

Haro and Dominguez later went to trial, but the case ended in a mistrial.

In January 2026, Marquez attempted to withdraw her guilty plea. Her request was denied, and court records indicate she appealed the decision.

On August 17, 2026, a jury convicted Haro and Dominguez of second-degree murder in Dimas’ killing.

Sentencing for Haro and Dominguez will be announced at a later date.
